“Black Adam” blew away the box office competition over the weekend, taking an estimated $67 million in its domestic debut.
The superhero origin story from Warner Bros. stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a villain whos been asleep for 5,000 years.
“Black Adam” also earned $73 million at the international box office, for a $140 million opening weekend globally on the films $195 million budget.
The number two film at the domestic box office was “Ticket to Paradise,” a romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, with a $16.3 million debut weekend.
The film was previously released internationally, where it has already earned $80 million, for a total of $96 million in global ticket sales so far.
