HBO canceled “Westworld” after its fourth season ended on a cliffhanger in August.
“Westworld,” in which the titular theme park is populated by artificially intelligent “hosts,” debuted in 2016 to critical acclaim.
The sci-fi western is based on a 1973 film of the same name written and directed by Michael Crichton.
“Westworld” won nine Emmys and earned dozens of nominations, but its ratings declined steadily over time.
The series, from creators Lisa Joy, Jonah Nolan and executive producer J.J. Abrams, was also expensive to produce, with its first season costing an estimated $100 million.
