Actress Margot Robbie has revealed a planned “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie led by women is no longer moving forward at Disney.
Robbie shared the update in a new cover story for Vanity Fair. The “Birds of Prey” actress has been attached to star in the project since 2020.
Robbie told the magazine the idea for a female-led but “not totally female-led” film “wouldve been really cool, but I guess they dont want to do it.”
Previous “Pirates” installments have starred Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, with the franchise earning more than $3 billion globally.
Depp testified during his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard that Disney had cut ties with him over her published claims of domestic abuse, which he denied.
