Jennifer Lawrence has clarified recent comments that seemed to suggest she didnt realize women had led action films before her turn as Katniss Everdeen in “Hunger Games.”
Speaking with Viola Davis for [Varietys “Actors on Actors”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05EhMqgUpME) series, Lawrence said “nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie, because it wouldnt work, we were told.”
“Girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead,” she said, referring to what studio executives were saying.
Following up with [The Hollywood Reporter](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/jennifer-lawrence-female-led-action-films-1235278203/), Lawrence clarified that she was speaking about “these old myths that you hear about … about the chatter that you would hear.”
“But it was my blunder and it came out wrong,” Lawrence said. “I had nerves talking to a living legend.”
