Henry Cavill is out as Superman, soon after leaving Netflixs “The Witcher” and donning the cape for “Black Adam,” as DC goes in another direction under James Gunn and Peter Safran.
“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isnt the easiest, but thats life,” Cavill wrote on Instagram.
“My turn to wear the cape has passed but what Superman stands for never will. Its been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards,” he wrote.
“In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Supermans life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill,” DC Studios co-CEO Peter Gunn tweeted.
The next day, Cavill announced he will be executive producing and starring in a “Warhammer 40,000” series at Amazon Studios.
